More or Less

And the name of the city from that day shall be, “The Lord is there.” Ezekiel 48:35b

The closing verse in Ezekiel creates a hopeful chill and a thirst in my soul for less of me and more of Jesus.

If there’s less of me and more of Jesus, people would come to our home and leave saying, “The Lord is there.”

People would spend time in my presence and leave saying, “The Lord is there.”

If I pray, “More of You, Jesus, less of me,” lives will change. Starting with mine.

Because less of me and more of Jesus means less despair and more joy. Less irritability and more patience. Less striving and more peace.

More of Jesus in our midst means more love, more kindness, more gentleness, more hope.

Couldn’t we all use a little more?
